When Blending Wine, Even 1% of a Varietal Can Have a Mighty Impact

A little splash of this and a little splash of that can have a big impact on a wine! Our Syrah has just 2% of Viognier and the Proprietary Red Blend has only 2% Grenache, but both winemakers deemed those critical to the final product. Have you tried them?

2016 Russian River Syrah: 98% Syrah, 2% Viognier

2018 Proprietary Red Blend: 78% Mourvedre, 20% Zinfandel, 2% Grenache

Wine Cocktails? Yay or Nay?

I’ll be honest here…I’m currently a “nay” on this topic. My current outlook: cocktails are cocktails and wine should be wine. BUT, feel free to drop a comment here to change my mind! Have you ever used a Claudine wine in a cocktail? A recipe we need to try? We want to know!

Colorado Wine Country

If you follow us on social media, you may have realized that I live in Colorado. I’m up in the mountains and it’s not unusual for me to hike with a bottle of Claudine in my pack…gotta celebrate the summit, right?! :)

The main region for wine in Colorado is Palisade, near Grand Junction (the western side of the state). The climate and altitude produce some really great wine, and we have been impressed with several varieties here. Some of our current favorites are Savage Spectrum and The Storm Cellar. They will ship to you, but you really should plan a trip to see the spectacular views of the Grand Mesa!
